Most Thanksgiving holidays are pretty special in our family:  low-key, family fellowship, great food in great abundance, and this year the best weather that global warming has to offer!  (The temperature topped out at 76.5 degrees before a windy front moved in with a 40 degree plunge that evening!)  My holiday began on Tuesday this year with the evening Hollywood arrival of Jessie, Elizabeth, and Miranda.  The ladies helped me celebrate my 63rd with a scrumptious Wegman's cake and Snickers ice cream bars!  On Wednesday morning, Jessie and I enjoyed the sunshine and colors on the dock and a nice drive around the waterfront before we all cruised up (in three separate cars -- sorry Al Gore) to Great Falls for a nice Pasa Thai meal with the Longs and Henry before settling in at Arnon Chapel for T day.  On Thursday, Jessie and I met Lillian, Henry, and Kelsey at Columbia Marina on the Virginia side of Memorial Bridge and walked to the starting line for SOME's annual 5K Turkey Trot and Walk that kicked off at 8:30.  Lillian and Henry did the trot while Jessie, Kelsey, and I did the walk during which we ran into Virgil, Barbara, Stephanie, and Allison -- a nice coincidence Jessie and I had curiously imagined just moments before.  Henry then joined us at the Longs' where we started digging into appetizers shortly after noon, followed by turkey and sides by Ruth, breads by Arny, pies by Miranda and Jessie, and the always welcome company of Lillian & Michael.  These are the kind of days that refresh my soul.
